The Hen House Shop
Patricia Bell, folk
artist, was born in Kansas into a family of women painters. She learned
to paint as an adult, taking lessons from her mother. Her works cross a
spectrum of techniques and are richly enhanced by the study of folk art
from various countries around the world.
Pat feels that a folk
art piece should be something that makes others want to touch it, hold it,
and use it. She likes to paint objects found at local antique auctions. As
she travels, she picks up furniture and other household objects from
antique and junk stores, which to her are a sort of painter's paradise.
Pat is a longtime
member of the Society of Decorative Artists. She teaches locally at her
home studio in Anderson, SC and occasionally at the Anderson County Arts
Center. She travels around the country teaching classes as well.
Her folk art can be
found at Split Creek Farm in The Hen House shop and at her home studio.
Pat is also willing to work on commissioned pieces.
Pat can be contacted
at her studio number: (864) 287-7471
